René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke (4 December 1875 – 29 December 1926), known as Rainer Maria Rilke, was an Austrian poet. Acclaimed as an idiosyncratic and expressive poet, he is widely recognized as a significant writer in the German language. His work is viewed by critics and scholars as possessing undertones of mysticism, exploring themes of subjective experience and disbelief. His writings include one novel, several collections of poetry, several volumes of correspondence and a few early novellas.

Rilke travelled extensively throughout Europe, finally settling in Switzerland, which provided the inspiration for many of his poems. While Rilke is best known for his contributions to German literature, he also wrote in French. Among English-language readers, his best-known works include two poetry collections: Duino Elegies (Duineser Elegien) and Sonnets to Orpheus (Die Sonette an Orpheus), a semi-autobiographical novel The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge (Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge). A collection of ten letters was published posthumously as Letters to a Young Poet (Briefe an einen jungen Dichter).

In the later 20th century, his work found new audiences in citations by self-help authors and frequent quotations in television shows, books and motion pictures.

Lū Salome (vācu: Lou Andreas-Salomé, krievu: Луиза Густавовна Саломе; dzimusi 1861. gada 12. februārī, mirusi 1937. gada 5. februārī) bija Krievijā dzimusi vācu autore, psihoanalītiķe un intelektuālo aprindu dalībniece. Ietekmējusi Nīči, Rilki un Freidu.

Dzimusi Krievijas ģenerāļa ģimenē. Pēc tēva nāves 1878. gadā 1880. gadā kopā ar māti devās uz Šveici, vēlāk pārceļoties uz Romu, kur iepazinās ar Nīčes draugu Paulu Rē. 1882. gada 13. maijā Lū Salome iepazinās ar Nīči. Kad pēc kopā pavadītiem mēnešiem Nīče bildināja Salomi, viņa atbildēja ar atteikumu, un attiecības izira.

Baladine Klossowska or Kłossowska (21 October 1886 – 11 September 1969) was a Polish-German painter. Originating from an artistic Jewish family with roots in Lithuania, she moved from Breslau, Germany, to Paris, France, at the turn of the 20th century, where she was a vivid and active participant in the explosion of artistic experiment then active in the city.

She was mother to controversial modernist painter Balthus as well as the writer Pierre Klossowski, and the final muse and love of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke.

Claire Goll (born Klara Liliane Aischmann) (29 October 1890 – 30 May 1977) was a German-French writer and journalist; she married the poet Yvan Goll in 1921.
